Hi there!
My name is Samantha, or Sam for short.
I'm a multimedia journalist passionate about storytelling, learning from diverse perspectives and building connections with others.
Most recently, I covered Minnesota news on the digital content team and assignment desk at FOX 9 KMSP-TV. In summer 2021, I was the digital audience intern at the Star Tribune. Before that, I was a reporter at the Racial Reckoning project covering the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former police officer convicted in the murder of George Floyd.

In December 2020, I graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, with a B.A. in Communication and Journalism, minoring in Sustainability and the Renaissance Program.

My internship experiences overlapped with several news mediums from broadcast to digital. Some undergraduate career highlights included:
  • traveling to India to assist the Under-Told Stories Project shoot stories about water access and quality
  • leading TommieMedia, St. Thomas' student-led campus digital news organization, in Fall 2019
  • connecting with diverse high school students from ThreeSixty Journalism as a Scholar and alumna
  • reporting community-focused stories at MinnPost
  • learning about health equity and corporate communications as an intern at the Center for Prevention at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of MN
I grew up in Savage, a suburb located about 30 minutes from the Twin Cities. In my free time, I enjoy going to alternative pop/R&B concerts, watching Marvel movies and trying new restaurants with my family and friends. I have a strong love for boba tea, chickens, new music, traveling and to-do lists!
